Keep Jolly campaign launched

Press release from Butler County Commission President Gregory Jolivette’s re-election campaign (Nicknamed the “Keep Jolly” campaign):

BUTLER COUNTY COMMISSIONER GREG JOLIVETTE FILES PETITIONS FOR RE-ELECTION

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:                                                               Thursday, February 18, 2010                                           Hamilton, Ohio) Butler County Commissioner President Greg Jolivette today filed petitions of candidacy for re-election.  With broad support, the Jolivette campaign plans to focus on the Commissioner’s strong record of accomplishments and leadership demonstrated while serving the people of Butler County.

As a commissioner, Greg Jolivette has fought to keep the tax rate among the lowest in the state, reduce taxpayer cost by keeping water and sewage rates down, and by attaining the highest bond rating in county history.

“Since first being elected to public service, I have worked hard to provide the people of Butler County with the professionalism and leadership they expect from their elected officials. Our efforts have succeeded - as many counties have faltered in the face of a state and nationwide financial crisis, our county has weathered the storm.”

“Today, our tax rate is among the lowest in the state. As people are fleeing other areas across Ohio, our communities are growing. As commissioner, I have fought to keep our taxes low and to attract new business and revenue to Butler County. “

“I have fought to hold the line on spending and keep our elected officials accountable to the demands and expectations of the taxpayers by promoting fiscal responsibility in our government. But, there is more work to be done - and I plan to finish the job we started.”

“I am running to ensure the long-term well being of the people I have been privileged to serve. My goal is to continue to bring opportunities to our children, safety to our communities and prosperity to our state. As a public servant and small business owner, I fully understand the difficulties we face in job creation, growth, and sustainability. In the face of an economic crisis unlike any in our state’s history, I believe it is imperative we continue to maintain the fiscally sound, strong leadership the people of Butler County deserve.”

“I look forward to the challenge, and to the opportunity to continue serving the people of Butler County by making our community a better and more prosperous place for our families and for the generations to come.”

Greg Jolivette has a long record of public service, including Butler County Commissioner, State Representative (54th District) , Mayor of the City of Hamilton and Hamilton City Council. Mr, Jolivette is the owner and operator of Jolly’s Drive-In in Hamilton, a small family business that has employed hundreds of Butler county residents in it’s 71 years of operation.

Greg- In your laundry list of things you’ve done for Butler County, you forgot the most important of all. You switched from Democrat to Republican just to get elected. Just look at what a sacrifice that was. The Keep Jolly campaign will not likely have support from anyone not named Jolivette.

I’m for jollivette ! he has been the single commissioner that has shown any guts at the county in years (don dixon is now pushing for better government also). Jollivette challenged the sheriff and commissioners on spending years before the “crisis” but could not get dupport from fox or furmon. Jollivette has always asked why, even though he could not get answers from fox, furnmon, conklin or williams ! remember he had only one vote. compromise is essential in county government to meet any of your goals Jollivette should not be punished for trying his best to negoiate with the other commissioners to move forward. another fact is that few anticipated this “crash” public, private or individuals. I think Jollivette has done a great job for butler county and should be returned to office.

Jollivette is the obvious choice for commissioner none of the other candidates have shown any experience or qualifications to be county commissioner. Just because you have been elected to a clerk position or a council member or even a trustee does not mean you can be a quality leader at the commissioner level ! we have some former township clerks or city council members in office right now look at well that is working - NOT. Jollivette deserves your vote for county commissioner in 2010.

please do not give cindy carpenter any more responsibility than she has. she had created her mini queen dome in the clerks office with crazy policies and guidelines that have not improved that office in the 13 years she has been there - not improved in a single aspect. now she will throw out alot of “stuff”, “crap” or just plain mis representations of her accomplishments as clerk, do not be fooled she would not know the truth if it bit her in the rear.

i didn’t read anywhere in his accomplishments of his ethics violations and ongoing investigation (but maybe that is what he meant by making butler county a prosperous place for families, including his). its rather ironic he wants to make communities safer when he is laying off deputies and he refers to holding office holders accountable with his history of nepotism. mr. jolivette for years we as voters have been keeping you in office to “take care” of us, come election time rest assured we will “take care” of you, i just hope you have stayed proficient in the art of slapping weinies between buns. don’t let the door hit you on the way out….

Hey, Greg did not switch parties to get elected, Greg switched parties because he has always been a republican at heart but didn’t want to hurt his family, he also showed up a lot for the 06 phone banks in support of the party.

Joe, Please tell us why Don Dixon and Robin Piper were democrats up until they wanted to run for office? These are all RINO’s.
