Left lampoons Boehner over public option comments, delivers garlic milkshake

U.S. House Minority Leader John Boehner, West Chester Twp., had a garlic milkshake delivered to his Butler County office today. It’s because of these comments:

“I’m still trying to find the first American to talk to who’s in favor of the public option, other than a member of Congress or the administration.”…”I’ve not talked to one and I get to a lot of places.” “I’ve not had anyone come up to me - I know I’m inviting them - and lobby for the public option.”…”This is about as unpopular as a garlic milkshake.”

So, predictably, they’re lobbying him. I’m told Representatives from MoveOn.org, Health Care for America Now and the Center for Community Change visited his West Chester Twp. office to deliver a garlic milkshake and a piece of their mind about a government-backed health care plan — or public option.

They weren’t alone. A California Democrat evidently delivered an assortment of garlic to his Washington D.C. office.

And Americans United for Change said this television ad will soon run in Cincinnati and Dayton television markets:

Thoughts? Ever had a garlic milkshake?

If your medical issues are piling up, your insurance company will find any excuse to not cover you. Information left out of the paper work, documentation screw ups, anything. In most cases you have to sue the insurance company before they decide it’s going to save them more money to cure you, then to fight you in court. They would prefer you would die before the court date, so they wouldn’t pay squat. There needs to be a govt. option as well as the private health insurance companies. Healthy competition will keep rates low. And everyone knows that private insurance gets the best medical care.

I do not want to see a public option. All the talk of taxing my insurance as income to pay for as well as raising taxes on all sorts of other things as well. By the way, how do you take the federal government to court if they deny you a treatment? Medicade and medicare are broke and adding millions into ewither of those systems will only make it worse. Government is NOT the answer.

Boehner is the same idiot that couldn’t find the stimulus money projects with a bloodhound when you can’t drive anywhere around here without running into some highway project funded by the stimulus money! He leads the republican “Die Faster” healthcare effort and to prove it he supports the SunCoke plant that will accomplish that goal by poisoning you. Why would anyone talk to him at all let alone try to reason with him? If you are suicidal, vote for him again!

Boehner hasn’t sought out the people that he is mis-representing. The city of Hamilton is fast becoming a ghost town. The people there needs jobs, housing and a public option included in the health care bill. As a former resident, I am appalled each time Boehner speaks in deference to the people that he is supposed to represent. I wonder if you check out which insurance company (perhaps the one in Westchester) pads his pockets, then there will be the answer why he is so opposed to the public option.

I am for a public health option. I spent 11 years working for an insurance company and believe me they are as underhanded as it gets in this world. They make billions in profits and give huge bonuses to the people who deny claims the most. There are actually competetions on which team can save the company the most money. They save billions and give the team members $250.00 quarterly. That is just wrong. I hate having more governemt programs but I believe this would benefit so many Americans.

What part of “we want nothing to do with any segment of the Government making decisions in our lives” does the left not understand? Yes, you do understand. The Government could and can make health insurance more affordable if they made changes to regulation. But, of course, controlling the masses has far more appeal.

Boner needs to get out of the bars and country clubs to hear what most people want.If it doesn’t have the public option, don’t pass it.One thing I have learned from Boner is that a morning visit to the tanning bed will hwlp the hangover.I am not fooling it works, check his color. Ohio’s man of color. Gary

Do you all drive private roads? Aren’t our highways a “public option”. I don’t care who provides it. The current “system” doesn’t work. The extreme poor, and incapable are covered. But, The middle class worker can lose everything. Job,insurance, home, too easily. We need more for the regular “Joe” who just needs temporary help. The only one willing to cover EVERYONE is the government. Show me another way… I’ll support it.

John Boehner does not work for the Ohioians that elected him. He works for Big Insurance, Big Pharma and Big Tobacco. His door is “closed” to anyone with an opinion contrary to theirs. Try this search on Google: “Boehner campaign contributors”. Voting for Boehner is voting for even higher insurance premiums!

I agree with Gary, Don and Greatly Concerned. Deron, you need to go to www.AARP.org - left hand side scroll down and get the facts on health care. It’s a great site. When you are on Medicare or Medicaid, the Gov’t is PROVDING ACCESS TO DR.s so you don’t ‘sue the Gov.’t’ you sue the provider. In Public Option, the Gov’t is PROVIDING ACCCESS to medical coverage. Getting the right facts is key.

Sorry the Health Care Facts are on the RIGHT side! I have alot of respect for the research that AARP does as an ‘older’ American who will face more health issues as I age. And Jackphat, the VA is a government system and many Veterans I talk to don’t have a problem with ‘govt’ run health insurance’.

Apparently, everyone here is okay with trial lawyers giving money to Democrats. Legislators in California and Texas woke up and did just what that lobby didn’t want, they tackled malpractice lawsuits which has significantly lowered costs. Bottom line here is we don’t need a government plan to improve costs. And if people think AARP is nuetral in this then I suggest you take a look at their revenue growth over the past ten years…they’ll profit even more from a gov’t run system.

Hey Wake Up… hope there isn’t a cap on malpractice lawsuits when a Dr. ‘negligently’ takes your one and only ‘working’ testicle. When the Drs. police themselves, then we won’t need lawyers. How many times have you seen published articles in the paper about a local Dr. committing malpractice—but if a lawyer misappropriates funds, the ‘public reprimand’ is plastered across the papers.

John Boehner is an out of touch MILLIONAIRE politician that does give a care about anyone except the tanning bed operator and his barber. He reminds me of the scarecrow in The Wizard of OZ…if he only had a brain…

Mr. Wakeup, you are unfortunately misinformed about Tort Deform. The Congressional Budget Office and U.S. General Accounting Office have studied the issue, as have many other independent groups. The conclusion is 1) malpractice reform does nothing to help lower doctors’ premiums. 2) The increase in premiums are due to mismanagement of the income generated by premiums by the malpractice insurance companies, and those companies’ bad investments. 3) In those states where malpractice reform has occured, it has done nothing to increase the number of doctors practicing in those states nor lower premiums. Finally, in Ohio we have had malpractice reforms. One of which requires a certificate of merit signed by a qualified and certified physician before a malpractice claim can be filed.

Mr. Boehner, let me be the first American you find that will support the public “option”. Since when is having more “options” a bad thing? Please post a response on these comments and let me know how I can reach you…as I have contacted your office without a response from you. Once you provide this contact information, I am sure you will hear from more of your constituents who have been shut out by the “bias” that Big Insurance has paid you to preach on their behalf. By the way…I play golf and enjoy a cocktail socially,so we can discuss this subject on the course or over a couple of cocktails if that is more convenient for you.

We already have the public option…the government pays for ALL indigent care given at emergency rooms..YOU pay that bill now…with a public insurance option, that bill goes down…that would be horrible, less money paid by the government to hospitals doctors and pharmacies, horrible. The public option is already here for seniors, Medicare. Has private insurance quit trying for that market? heck no. Private insurance exists to MAKE MONEY, not help YOU.

Tort reform is just a start. When we go back to the point where big pharma companies stop advertising their drugs. When doctors stop writing scripts for Oxycontin, when Government stops trying to expand and take more of the private sector over. God people get a clue, those jerks can’t run their own lives or Country. And we are going to allow them to over see our health care??? How can a bunch of inept corrupt politicians give us what’s best for our families?

Seems there are a lot of readers who are dissatisfied withe the ridiculous congressman Boehner. He looks ridiculous with his Trent Lott haircut and fake tan, and his positions are at least as ridiculous. His constituency covers a lot of people who are poor or soon will be poor as their blue collar jobs dry up. I worked in Hamilton in the late ’80s, and it was dying then. I can only imagine what it’s like now. Why do you guys keep electing people like Boehner, who care abount nothing except toeing the conservative party line and lining their pockets at your expense. Puzzling.

Dear Boston Miami Grad: The Republicans will vote straight ticket if Quasi Moto is on the ballot. The answer is that there has GOT TO BE SOMEONE in this area who is a great candidate to run against him but he/she hasn’t appeared yet? Do you know of anyone????

Positively Blue…you can do a Google Search using the following: Boehner Campaign Contributors. This will bring you several sources citing his top contributors. Four of the top 5 include: American Financial, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Altria (Phillip Morris) and Reynolds American (big tobacco). Of course he claims he is representing the people.

I love garlic but I’m not sure about the milkshake. As with most politicians, Boehner is out to serve his own agenda. Being a resident of his state I don’t find him serving my wishes. I wish there was a public option. I wish we had the options for coverage that are afforded Mr. Boehner and his colleagues at the expense of the public.

Option: having a choice. How hard is that to understand? No one will be forced to use the public option. You can still choose private health insurance. Why would anyone oppose having that option? Here is why…It will create a lower cost alternative and force the private insurers to “compete” for our business. Now someone tell me how that is bad for the middle class of America.
