GOP headquarters finds a buyer

Looks like the Butler County Republican Party found a potential buyer for its massive - and expensive - headquarters building in Fairfield Twp.

Also looks like they’re counting on the sale “to insure our party’s future viability.”

Here is a letter that recently went to all members of the party:

Gop Sell

On the ‘Todd Mahal’

Abutting a neighborhood of quarter-million-dollar homes and the Walden Ponds Golf Club in Fairfield Twp., the 9,000-squarefoot office and meeting space has been ground zero for numerous local GOP victories since it was built in 2005.

“It’s been a good asset for the county (and) a rallying point,” said GOP Chairman Tom Ellis when we recently reported that the building would go on the market.

Most recently, it was the regional headquarters for Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign.

But with a price tag of more than $800,000 the building also has been a source of controversy within the party. Detractors call it the “Todd Mahal,” after Carlos Todd, party chairman when it was built.

This letters was NOT sent to ALL members as the title suggest, only a few of the special folks. And to think Ellis wants to take Todds place?, more of the same old ways of thinking!

“Most recently, it was the regional headquarters for Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign.” Wouldn’t that fact qualify the place for Federal rehab money? You know, sometimes when you let the wrong kind of people rent your property, you have to expect major damage. Sorry it didn’t work out. Why not try a double wide on a tobacco farm somewhere?

Savanation’s never ending shots make him the perfect poster child for Obama’s campaign to prove why civility needs to return to Washington and to political discussion. Why the Journal-News continues to give him a forum in print is astounding.
