Kay Rogers’ colorful language

During my interview with Kay Rogers for these stories, Rogers made several comments that didn’t make it into the paper.

The interview was terse, and ended with her hanging up before I could get many questions in. But first she said, “This is how I think this is all playing out:

“Kay Rogers is not in independently wealthy person. Kay Rogers does not have a spouse. When they came to Kay Rogers, Kay Rogers said, ‘You know what, I don’t have a quarter of a million dollars to fight this. I don’t have that kind of money.’ So Kay Rogers says ‘(expletive) it, Chuck (expletive) Furmon has constantly been on my (expletive).’”

In other words, she said Butler County Commissioner Charles Furmon (who is the one that asked for the FBI investigation, and was a political nemesis of Rogers) wanted her out, and she didn’t have the resources to fight it.

She also had some choice words for her replacement, Auditor Roger Reynolds, who she blasted for not advertising before hiring Lisa Hurst from the records center.

“You guys would never print this,” she said, before saying things about Hurst that we indeed would never print because of our policies on vulgarity.

Finally, she said the media is paying far too much attention to her case:

“In light of all the banking problems today, I don’t think Kay Rogers is responsible for all the banking industry,” she said, adding that National City Bank sent a letter to the county prosecutor saying the bank doesn’t hold Rogers responsible for the missing money.

“You’re making it to the point I’m never going to be able to get a job, I’m never going to be able to take care of my kids. Goodbye.”

That was the end of the interview. There’s more in the story below.

Not only is Kay a whiner, she’s apparently a low-class whiner. And a convicted felon.

Anyone who’s followed Rogers career even remotely most likely isn’t surprised by her comments or excuses for her duplicitous acts. But, given her colorful comments one has to wonder what lessons she’s taught her children through all of this…that you take responsibility for your actions or that with the right amount of money you can likely get away with anything? No doubt, the later and frankly that’s why few people, if any, would even trust her to guard a water fountain full of coins at a local mall.

Kay does have a point about the Journal beating up on people beyond the point of reason. Look at your recent reporting on Mike Fox and William Turner. Report the facts on both sides and let it go.

Two things about the Lisa Hurst hiring…1) it’s a part time position and 2) it was posted before she was hired. Who would have more qualified than someone with years of experience in the auditor’s office?

Aw, buck up Kay! From the looks of your interview, you’ll be able to land a job as a phone sex operator once you get out of the klink!
