Local reps get committee assignments
Much of the work of government in the Ohio House is done in committees, and House Speaker Armond Budish, D-Cleveland, handed out committee assignments over the past week.
Here are the committees Butler County’s legislators are sitting on:
Rep. William Coley, R-West Chester Twp.:
- Criminal Justice (Ranking Republican)
- Judiciary
- Civil and Commercial Law
- Consumer Affairs and Economic Protection
Rep. Courtney Combs, R-Hamilton:
- Transportation (Ranking Republican)
- Health
- Public Utilities
- Veteran Affairs
Rep. Tim Derickson, R-Hanover Twp. (District includes Middletown and Oxford)
- Agriculture and Natural Resources
- Faith Based Initiatives
- Financial Institutions, Real Estate and Securities
- Public Safety and Homeland Security
- Local Government and Public Administration
Budish made the appointments based on recommendations from Republican leadership. And some wonder if Coley was taken off the influential finance committee (which he said last week he expected to get) because of his opposition to Bill Batchelder, R-Medina, becoming minority leader.
