Bill Becker would be an excellent choice for the next EMA director. His experience in law enforcement and city government gives him the experience required for the job. He already knows how the various departments having an emergency response responsibility interface with one another. He already knows the demographics of the county and it’s entities. He has a good rapport with with other department heads and he cares about people. Why go on a hunt when you already have the trophy.

Would it be advisable to limit out search to a person who already has a job? I think that a calculated, thorough search should be done in order to ensure that we don’t get stuck in the mire of good ole boyism again. No offense to Mr. Becker, but I know of several potential candidates who are capable and qualified. I will be interested in seeing how this all works out. I do know that based on the last selection, we need to really make sure that we get the right person for this job. The nightmare known as Ike should make us all be very vigiliant in our approach.

Yes, any high school graduate could be EMS leader, who performed horribly as a city manager but will get along fine with the police who gutted the former Director who was “scape-goated” to by the mindless twits on the commission and sheriff. My gosh, you could have gotten water the next day at Walmart or anywhere. BB qualified for EMS. I would think someone in safety would, be I forgot this is Butler Cty, county of the “blamers.” Well, he is a member of the Republican Party, so by gosh, lets make him Director. Getting out of this county will be such a pleasure.

Well looks like the Sheriff and police chiefs will get what they wanted all along. A cop as county EMA Director. So much for the we’ll have a search and we have know one in mind.
