Fox in financial trouble

Michael Fox — Children Services director, former county commissioner and all-around political lightning rod (photo at right) — appears to be having money problems.

hjn051007foxp3-1.jpg

His home at 6109 Creekside Way appears to be in foreclosure, according to this filing with the Butler County Clerk of Courts.

This is the same home that the FBI requested records of as part of an ongoing investigation. The FBI won’t comment on the nature, or existence, of the investigation.

But insiders have been saying for a while that attorney fees have been taking a toll on Fox, as the investigation has continued for more than two years.

Fox says he doesn’t know what the FBI is looking into, saying recently:

“All I know is I think I’m getting more scrutiny than Osama bin Laden’s driver.”

Imagine that maybe him and furman and rogers and a couple more can live under the same roof when rooms come available i wouldnt want to make a house payment either if i thought it might be seized by the F.B.I and end up having jones sell it at auction hope the state has rooms available when this all comes out in the wash maybe (if) they are guilty ,only jurors can decide but you and I both know they are all (INNOCENT) besides they are life-time members to the good-ole boys club as long as the dues get paid!

Everybody has problems in life.No one is perfect. All in all i think Mike Fox has been good for Butler County. So just pray and hope the best for him. Remember those who never made a mistake never did any work.

Why does the Journal News let Honest Tax Payer post his comments three or four times in a row? Honestly once is enough.

I agree with Jerry. Why is Honest Tax Payer so special? And I don’t think much of any of the good ol’ boys down there either. Maybe the city AND Mr. Fox would all be better offif they were all honestand above board.

Micheal Fox has my support in his attempts to improve Children’s Services. He also has had a positive impact on Butler County during his years as commissioner. I thank him for advocating a highway that links Hamilton to interstates, for helping the county get rid of the inefficient E-Check program, for supporting families impacted by the AK Steel strike, and for making himself available to listen to citizens’ concerns. If he is facing financial difficulty, he is certainly not alone; foreclosure is not a crime, and it is in no way a reflection on his integrity.

The best is yet to com (and a long time coming)in regard to Michael Fox. Ask yourself. Why all the attorney fees if not trying legally to avoid an issue.

So what, so am I, every damned thing I have worked for over the past 17 years is down the drain. Mike is a victim of caring too much about our county and trying to make a difference, I wish you well Mike, see ya in the bread line

Let him without sin cast the first stone. While some of you may rejoice that Mike may have trouble, many folks are just a paycheck or two away from it themselves. What you will see, in my opinion, is an unprecedented number of people who will lose their homes. Blame is easy to spread when it is someone else. For me, I will withhold judgment.

Well put Don, we have some in this county who honestly tried to do their jobs and help people and got nothing but trouble for it, Ed and Judy, Mike, who knows whose next, probably me, See ya on the Bread line Don.

butler county is disgustingly corrupt. after working for the county for a couple of years, i moved on to the private sector. the amount of ‘good old boy’ network influence is rediculous. you have employees in some departments making more because they “know somebody” and others who do practically nothing, yet still have a job cause they’re dad’s friends cousin’s uncle’s daddy is neighbors with a commissioner. i’m talking about the adult probation department especially. i’m a guy too. place is like mayberry, RFD. Chicago politicians could take lessons from butler county. as for fox, karma sucks for him, i guess.

It’s probably because Michael Fox is now just a disembodied screaming vampire head floating in space. It’s hard to pay bills when you don’t have arms.

For all of you who defend him: Remember the first FBI investigation he was involved in. The only reason he did not go to jail then, was because a GOP prosecutor in Franklin County made a deal that sent him back to Butler County. A leopard does not change his spots.

Enough about the politicians who “might” lose one of their homes. Take a look around I witnessed a man yesterday standing infront of the Gov. Services Bldg. with a sign that said “3 kids, NO Job” You never see that in Hamilton! Its normal people losing their jobs that the journal should be conserned with not a politician who probably has a vaca home in FL somewhere that will be just fine for retirement.

There is no question that Mike has done a lot for this county whether it was for face time or from the heart, but that is what he was elected for. He is supposed to do a good job. It is unfortunate that he is having financial problems but who isn’t? But having money woes and FBI investigations doesn’t go hand in hand. There seems to be a lot of favoritism shown to politicians in Butler Co., like his appointment to his Childrens Services position with little credentials. Regardless, I wish him luck with his health and financial issues. P.S. It’s good to see a new face like Don Dixon in Butler County politics.

What about the FBI investigaton into the 2 West Chester officials? Lang was a trustee and was the Dynus Finance VP and Owons was their Government Affairs something. If they can escap justice, put them in charge.

Hey “Citizen”Perhaps the guy standing in front of the GSC with a sign would do better if he went home, showered, and started applying and interviewing for jobs instead of doing his little personal protest. Pull yourself up by the bootstraps! The world isn’t fair! If the wages aren’t enough…get a second job! How about a little PRIDE! As for Fox, I feel bad for the guy. I think he tried to make a difference.

You all have been drinking the MF Kool- Aid way too long! He is a disgrace to this county and our commissioners should be held accountable for putting him in a position that he was not qualified for, knowing full well he was under investigation…he was Kay Rogers mentor, she learned from the best..how does a $67K job qualify for a $380K mortgage???hmmmm i wonder…maybe because he was doing “consulting work” (i.e. padding his pockets with cash) for companies like Dell and Dynus??? He let the power go to his head…and to his bed…he had lots of girlfriends who got cushy county jobs along the way…

The good ole boys club runs rampet not only at the county level but at every level. Township residents need to be aware of the benefits that their township trustees receive. Where else can you work part-time and receive medical and dental insurance at not cost? This cost of course is paid by the residents of the township. And this is money that could be spent on fixing township roads.

Mike is a good person. He stands up and fights when others run. People either love Mike or they hate him. Just remember for the grace of God go I. I for one am honored to know Mike Fox. for those of you applauding Dixon. Make sure you don’t turn your back toward him. He isn’t what he seems. He forgets the people that have helped him to gain the position he is in. Mike Fox can hold his head high. He is human and the truth will win out and once again Mikes integrity will stand. For those of you judging, just remember you may find you self in the same predicament Mike is in and your laughter will be turned to tears.

I agree 100% with saveourcounty. The residents of Butler County and Hamilton have been snowed long enough by MF and all his good old boy friends! Why do you keep voting all these guys back in office? Get smart…start at the top and vote them out of office and maybe someday we will have a half way decent city to live in. There is no way a 67K income will qualify for a $380K mortgage…Doesn’t take a genius to figure that one out.

Had this career politician lived within his means (earned less than $70k for years and now has a home appraised at $450k) I doubt that he would be in the situation that he and so many others like him find themselves in today. And, isnt that what created the mess that this country is in today. Of course, if rumors are true, he has a lot of expenditures for legal costs too. Hiring legal representation doesnt confirm anyones guilt, but the alleged depth and length of time for those costs appears to suggest differently here.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Fox and asking for his help in a matter concerning my children, years ago and he went out of his way to help us and actually was key in resolving the issue. We have recently moved to South Carolina leaving our home in the same subdivision as he lives. Believe it or not if you check the county records for foreclosures, he is far from the only one. Our former home is in the same situation as his, along with many others just in that subdivision. We are in the real estate business and with the market declining over the past several years, all of you should be lucky to still have your home.Stop judging him until you have had to walk a day in his shoes. What have any of you done for the county? Nothing compared to Mr. Fox. Blessings to him and his family.

Seriously now. You people do nothing more than sit on your computers and whine about politicians in this county. I don’t one way or another really care all that much if Fox loses his house, but some of you seem to be completely pleased. How pathetic are you? It shows complete lack of character on you all. Well, some of you can’t even be bothered with at least reasonable grammar, so it seems like that’s not the only thing showing lack of character and intelligence. But anyway, you’re nonsense is tired and old. Time for the “Good ol’ Hag Network” to come up with a new catch phrase. Learn one thing, complain long enough and everyone will see you as nothing more than complainers, and any arguments you may have will fall on deaf ears.

TO JOYCE ABOVE: I follow County news and Dixon has done more to shake up County Government, in the short time he has been there than most of them have in their entire political careers. Dixon is exactly what we have needed for years, an independent thinker. It is apparent though he did not do something for you, or one of your family members that you thought he should. Sorry Joyce for your sorry luck! KEEP MOVING THOSE CONCRETE WALLS COMMISSIONER DIXON!! I for one think Mike Fox is a good and decent man. He has done more for our County than a dozen other elected officials put together. God Speed Mike!

So don’t praise him. His job is to serve butler county and protect the children first! My kids are the one’s suffering! My Motto for Butler county: Butler Couny, The County that offers you Nothing!! I’m moving to Hamilton County where they emmediatly act on things when brought to there attention! I’m a mother of 3 and i’ve tried for years to get help from Butler county and all they have done is take a report and nothing more! No investigations no nothing!

If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.
