Sheriff backs McCain, doesn’t hold nose

Sheriff Richard K. Jones was among the stream of voters casting their votes today, the first day of early voting for this year’s election.

Two candidates he admitted to backing: himself and Arizona Sen. John McCain.

This, despite taking out a newspaper ad criticizing McCain’s immigration policy when he visited the area and saying he’s not sure he’ll vote for McCain without “holding my nose trying to figure out who I’m going to vote for.” He said he didn’t hold his nose.

“I’ve had a change of thought and opinion,” he said, though he still doesn’t think McCain has a comprehensive immigration policy and needs to form one.

Typical Journal bias..when the Sheriff is negative about a GOP candidate, it’s big news. When he supports one, it’s only worth a blog post.

I’ll not hold my nose but will vote with a smile on my face when I cast my ballot for Dale Scott Richter.

It’s news when the sheriff says something negative because he never has anything positive or good to say about anyone. All he does is complain and tear other people down in trying to build his self up. Everyone remember he has opposition this year and a change is needed.

Does anyone know the number of people who have died while in the custody of our great sheriff in the last three years and nine months? How much has the county paid to the families of these people to keep the sheriff out of the court and newspaper about these deaths? The Journal isn’t going to report on that.

I agree with New Miami girl! When I worked there, inmates were always unsafe. One Aryan brotherhood member told our classification officer that he would kill the first black inmate he saw. What happened? He slit a black inmate’s throat. That inmate lived fortunately but the BCSO did NOTHING to change their policy or discipline the person that made that error. Maybe Sheriff Jones should hold his nose as he votes for himself this year. I know I don’t have to hold my nose when I vote for Dale Richter!
