Weekend roundup
I should pass along a few updates on the issues we’ve touched on this week:
- On Monday, we hinted there would be more to come on the Pierre Foods mistake. Those stories ran today, with this story further explaining the errors that were made that led to the county’s largest sewer customer being undercharged for three years, and this story delving into the other 207 businesses that were undercharged and how they paid considerably less for sewer units than the going rate.
- On Tuesday, we said the county received bids for the long-delayed animal shelter. Here’s the full story on that.
- On Wednesday, I previewed a report on assessed property values due to the state by the county auditor’s office. The final story was shy on numbers, but a preview in itself for what will definitely be a contentious process.
- Here’s the story about the water merger study county commissioners moved ahead with at yesterday’s commission meeting at the fair. Getting all the parties to agree completely may be outside the study’s scope.
