It does seem stupid to layoff people in Environmental Services while the sheriff is hiring people to do the jobs of people already on the county payroll.

The county commissioners have posted a job announcement today for a “Chief Information Officer” with a salary of $135,855.40. But they are talking about layoffs?

Commissioners, don’t lose your nerve now. Stick with the plan. I have an even better idea, lay off according to job performance and knowledge rather than seniority. That way, you can get rid of all the FOFs (Friends of Furmon).
