The state of the county

The resignation of County Administrator Derek Conklin and his wife (read the story here), marks the second and third high-profile resignation, amid controversy, of a county leader.

Don’t forget former county auditor Kay Rogers, who resigned last month after pleading guilty to two felonies.

Should this be cause for concern? Is the county in turmoil? Do you think there’s more to come?

Butler County will survive this meltdown, but we need new republican leaders who can give a true definition of the words “Accountability and Ethics” and can put both into practice daily - that’s why I put myself out there for the auditor’s position. As my wonderful Mom would say, “we (the public) have had about enough of this nonsense.” That’s exactly my sentiment when watching the current political events pan out!

I hate to admit this but it looks like Butler County has more than it’s fair share of conmen and women working for them. How can an ex-administrator negotiate his own buyout package for almost 1/2 million $$ and still work for the county? I’d like to get me a job with the county!
