But who would replace Combs?

So state Rep. Courtney Combs, R-Hamilton, wants to be the next county auditor. But if he’s the Butler County Republican Party’s pick, the state GOP would have to find someone to replace him.

While the state party caucus makes the decision, the local party generally makes a recommendation on such matters. And names are already being bandied about by party insiders. They include:

  • Local businessman Dan Acton
  • Local attorney and former Hamilton City Councilman David Davidson
  • Fairfield Mayor Ronald D’Epifanio
  • Butler County Auditor’s Office Communication Manager Joe Statzer

Any other names that should be added to this list?

You might add to the list the only qualified person available. Mike Tilton, a long time Auditors office employee with tremendous experience. He should be drafted by the party and supported rather that the same ole appointment of political figures with no experience or qualifications. If the Republicans are truly interested in the welfare of this county this is a “slam dunk”.
