“Someplace Like America”

Michael Williamson

Don’t miss my interview this Sunday on WYSO (91.3fm) with Michael Williamson. Thirty years ago he was a photographer for the Sacramento Bee when he began a project with a reporter named Dale Maharidge. The result of their collaboration was a book called ” Journey to Nowhere: The Saga of the New Underclass.”

Williamson is now a staff photographer for the Washington Post and Maharidge teaches at Columbia University. And their collaboration continues. Over the past three decades the pair has crossed the country numerous times and covered half a million miles together. Their new book is “Someplace Like America: Tales from the New Great Depression”(University of California Press).

Tune in this Sunday morning at 11 to hear all about it…
