Cincinnati Book Festival Saturday
Books By the Banks, the Cincinnati Book Festival takes place on Saturday with 100+ authors taking part. There are many known names on the list of writers who are coming through town. Here’s a partial list from Cincinnati.com:
Fiction: Many names you might know from New York Times bestseller lists will be at Books by the Banks, including Chris Bohjalian (“Midwives,” “The Night Strangers”); former University of Cincinnati professor Brock Clarke (“An Arsonist’s Guide to Writers’ Homes in New England,” “Exley”); crime novelist Dennis Lehane (“Shutter Island,” “Moonlight Mile”); Paula McLain (“The Paris Wife”) from 1-3 p.m.; and Dolen Perkins-Valdez (“Wench”).
Nonfiction: Folk singer Judy Collins stops by Books by the Banks from 1-4 p.m. with her memoir, “Sweet Judy Blue Eyes: My Life in Music.” And Robert Morgan, perhaps best known for his Oprah’s Book Club selection “Gap Creek,” will sign copies of his new saga, “Lions of the West: Heroes and Villains of the Westward Expansion.”
Over the years I have interviewed Robert Morgan, Chris Bohjalian, and Judy Collins on my radio show on WYSO. I’ll never forget what happened after I interviewed Collins. We walked out of the studio and went out on to the Antioch College campus. I noticed a stretch limo idling by the curb and I joked to Judy: “hey look, your limo is here.” She looked at me sort of strangely. Then she got in the limo and they drove away. Oh well.
