James Lee Burke’s best book…
James Lee Burke is one of our greatest American novelists. Burke is now in his seventies and he has written 30 books. Each book is better than the one that preceded it. His latest, “Feast Day of Fools” (Simon & Schuster) is his best book yet. It comes out next week.
Over the years I have had the pleasure to interview Burke a dozen times. I spoke to him recently about this latest novel. The main character is Texas sheriff Hackberry Holland. Hack is up against his old nemesis again; the Thompson submachine gun totin’, mass murderer, religious zealot, and all-around stinky guy, Preacher Jack Collins. This one is 400 pages of action, adventure, and fabulous writing.
JLB even talked a little bit about his creative process. If you missed the interview on WYSO you can still hear it by clicking HERE:
