Donald Ray Pollock’s “gothic hillbilly noir”

My interview with Donald Ray Pollock aired recently on WYSO Public Radio (91.3fm). Don’s debut novel “The Devil All The Time” (Doubleday) is one of the hottest books of the summer.

Pollock grew up in the little village of Knockemstiff, Ohio. In 2008 he published his first book, a collection of short stories he called “Knockemstiff.” And the author was on his way.He got a fabulous write-up this week in the New York Times.

The new book is what Pollock describes as “gothic hillbilly noir.” Check out our conversation by clicking HERE:

I really love this book.

I called the store. They are only closing for a couple of weeks to remodel it. So, no worries! Yay! I have always loved that store….it will then reopen and be even better!

I always preferred the T and C store - although it did seem the tattered sibling compared to The Green. With gas prices what they are don’t get either place like I used to.

Sorry for the tangent. Don’t see an e-mail for you Vick. Just got a postcard from Books & Co saying that the Town & Country store closes tomorrow 7/16. Can’t find any mention of it around here. What’s the scoop?
