My review of Ron Reagan’s “My Father at 100”
February 6 is the 100th birthday of former President Ronald Reagan. His son Ron has written a memoir about his dad that was published to coincide with the centennial of his dad’s birth.
My review of the book ran in the Cox Ohio newspapers this past Sunday. As February 6 draws near my review is starting to be picked up by other newspapers through syndication by Cox Media. It just ran in Ronald Reagan’s adopted state of California where he once served as Governor.

No, all Ronald Reagan did was deregulate the financial industry, helping to create today’s crises. Both Bushes and Clinton helped with that, but Reagan got the laissez-faire ball rolling and now the financial industry orders the rest of the country around.

Ronald Reagan didn’t panic and start throwing the tax payer’s money at banks, insurance companies, and greedy lending institutions during the economic downturn of his presidency. He calmly let it run its course, and it did. Our country had the respect of our enemies and he certainly wouldn’t have apologised to them for our “arrogance”. It is disgusting that his health issues are used to sell books, but I suppose it will work. So what if he suffered from alzheimer’s? He served with more dignity than the office has seen in fifty years.

Sad to see the division between the two sons. Hopefully, and by your review, that impression is not given, that Jr’s motives were not to drag family secrets out in public for the sake of selling books. I abhor these children of privilege, who after the death of a famous loved one chooses to make $$ this way. Everyone has family issues that would be embarrassing if became public. Some things are best left unsaid. Its serves no positive purpose.
