Tune in this Sunday at 11am to hear my latest interview with the novelist James Lee Burke. It will air on WYSO Public Radio (91.3fm).

Burke’s new book is the latest in his series that features the Louisiana lawman Dave Robicheaux. Dave and his buddy, the private eye Clete Purcell are in hot pursuit of a serial killer who has been preying on unfortunate women in the area of New Iberia Parish.

Burke derived his inspiration for this book, “The Glass Rainbow” (Simon and Schuster), from some actual unsolved murder cases in Louisiana.

If you miss the interview on WYSO you can still hear it by downloading the podcast version which will be available after it airs on the radio.

I am going to be interviewing authors each week on WYSO. For more information click HERE:

‘Am listening as I type……I am unfamiliar with Burke’s works so I have nothing as a foundation to go on other than the interview. “I have never written a story that hasn’t had a basis in fact,” Burke said. Well, isn’t all fiction just rearranged facts? I find it peculiar Burke, whether its the BP reference or the BTK killer, finds some literary merit in hammering the ‘there’s evil in this world’ as if we had forgotten that. Capote and Puzo sort of dug that well and tapped it dry….Ok, you just concluded and, Vick, I guess it is of more interest to those who are familiar with his work. Discussing characters and storylines I know nothing of is my deficit. I will extend this; writers musicians, and artists are tough interviews. Anyway, Vick, it was interesting and you might have told him Antioch is no longer around….LOL….

My understanding of the Amazon link is that if you click on the Amazon link on the WYSO website before you go to Amazon to buy something that Amazon will track that purchase as coming through WYSO and some small percentage will then be directed to the station. I’ll check on that. Thanks, for asking…

Vick, how does the ‘support WYSO with Amazon purchases’ work? (I order from Amazon often for health reasons) Thank you.
