Sarah Palin and “Drill, Baby, Drill”

Sarah Palin has been quite active in endorsing candidates in the upcoming fall elections. Almost every day she makes another contribution to our political discourse via her Facebook page. And she has another book due out in November; America by Heart : Reflections on Family, Faith, and Flag.

All of this electoral activity could indicate that she is positioning herself for another political campaign of her own. “Drill, Baby, Drill” is arguably Palin’s best known quote and it certainly makes a statement in regard to her enthusiastic support for domestic energy initiatives.

In light of the ongoing disaster with the BP offshore oil blowout in the Gulf do you expect Palin to back off from her aggressive postures on drilling for more and more oil? Or will she stick to her guns on this one?

What do you think?

Jim, I stand corrected. I found this in a June 2 AP story: “Obama last week extended a moratorium on wells in deep water like the BP one that blew out a mile below the surface in April and is gushing millions of gallons of oil. But at the same time, the president quietly allowed a three-week-old ban on drilling in shallow water to expire. The Minerals Management Service granted a new drilling permit sought by Bandon Oil and Gas for a site about 50 miles off the coast of Louisiana and 115 feet below the ocean’s surface. It’s south of Rockefeller State Wildlife Refuge and Game Preserve, far to the west of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig that triggered the BP spill”. Environmentalists reacted: “I’m outraged,” said Kieran Suckling, executive director for the Tucson, Ariz.-based Center for Biological Diversity. “How is it that shallow water drilling suddenly became safe again?” Suckling said the administration was misleading the public by quietly resuming work in shallow waters while acting as if it was taking a tough look at deepwater work”. I hope this guys find enough oil to replace the BP well. And if they have any issues, at only 115’ we can get people down to fix them.

Sarah Palin doesn’t know that she doesn’t know. Many of her followers don’t either. Scary.

@Irishguy, “What conservatives are upset with is that environmental regulations push the well out to these great depths.” Not True! That’s 100% Faux News poppycock.

Sarah Palin has to be the least informed (I’m being nice) person to ever make it as far as she has in national politics. She can’t speak in coherent sentences, nor does she have a national view, let alone a world view. Palin, and the dummies who follow her, are an embarrassment

After reading the comments as a result of a DDN subject, it is not hard to fathom why Montgomery County continues to slide into irrelevancy. Name calling, faux facts and hateful posts are but a few of reasons the area continues the slide into oblivion. “I don’t like Ms Palins voice so therefore I don’t like her”? Yup, spoken like a true “Valley Person”!

On January 27, 1967, tragedy struck the Apollo program when a flash fire occurred in command module 012 during a launch pad test of the Apollo/Saturn space vehicle being prepared for the first piloted flight, the AS-204 mission. Three astronauts, Lt. Col. Virgil I. Grissom, a veteran of Mercury and Gemini missions; Lt. Col. Edward H. White, the astronaut who had performed the first United States extravehicular activity during the Gemini program; and Roger B. Chaffee, an astronaut preparing for his first space flight, died in this tragic accident. Three years later an Apollo mission was successful at putting a man on the moon. Don’t give up. Learn from the oil spill and Drill Baby Drill.

(And this is MY first posting on this topic) “Sarah Palin scares democrats, Vick included, so you have to keep talking about her and try to marginalize her.” I am not a democrat nor am I a republican, but I don”t think anyone except Sarah Palin marginalizes Sarah Palin. She does it everytime she opens her mouth.

I know you’re certainly unaware of this, but I tried to research where that expression “Drill, Baby, Drill” originated and some porn movie popped up in my search window. She should stop saying that! I’m gonna run a virus check on my system now. (you don’t have to post this comment, Vick, if you think it might be a bad influence) wow…I don’t know what to say.

Thank you for your response, Vick. I certainly did not post all those comments about Palin! She doesn’t interest me that much. However, the ‘same ISP’ address doesn’t always indicate that the ‘same person’ is making the posts either. More than one person can share an ISP. How do you validate what some aetheric planed camelopard says to be true?!

Nsider-what Alan is claiming is that you were also posting as “greatly concerned” and as “why do you continue” and also as “bradster 313.” Now you know that you didn’t post all 4 of those first comments and I know that you didn’t post them all-just the one, right? The fact that they all came from different ISP’s indicates that the comments were not being generated by the same person as Alan wishes to think. Did you post the other 3 comments? I’m sure that you didn’t. Apparently Alan cannot imagine 4 consecutive comments which expressed those particular sentiments.

ISP addresses don’t connect to ‘home’ addresses. (do they?) They just pin point the general ‘area’ the e-mail address is from (right?) People can also use ‘disposable’ e-mail accounts but I don’t know if that would prevent someone from obtaining your IP address or not. I suppose someone could formulate a ‘profile’ of someone posting comments online if they were in a position to obtain an IP address and connect it with various posts, but it does say that the e-mail address is ‘required’ on certain blogs. People don’t always use the same screen name. Some screen names are kinda annoying—(kinda like Sarah Palin’s voice is). I don’t believe everything I read online or in poll results. Is there a problem with the way some folks post comments?

I don’t think she’ll back off. America still needs oil. What conservatives are upset with is that environmental regulations push the well out to these great depths. It’d be safer to drill in shallow water, or better yet, on land. Like ANWAR.

Correction, the poll was reported on Hotair but was actually taken by the Public Policy Polling group.

What makes me think the previous 4 comments are all from the same person. Sarah Palin scares democrats, Vick included, so you have to keep talking about her and try to marginalize her. And I guarantee that more people agree with Palin than they agree with Obama and his low approval ratings. Lat week’s Hotair poll shows Obama losing to Gingrich, Romney and Huckabee and tied with Palin. Amrica is tired of the lies and socialism that the Dems are dispensing these days.

Her voice annoys me. I’m very sensitive to voices and they influence my opinion. She is not someone I would enjoy talking with (or listening to whatever she says). People in politics sometimes fail to consider the “fingernails on chalkboard” factor. Offshore drilling—there has to be a better way.

Why are people still talking about her anyways. She is dumb as a rock and has no idea whats best for nature.

By Why Do You Continue?

Why do you continue to give this person any media coverage? She is an insignificant influence in this country and most don’t agree with her views and believe she is not to be taken seriously based on her immature babbling. She may be big news in Wasilla, but outside Alaska, she is a non-entity. Please write about people who make real contributions to our country.

I think she has no clue and those that follow her are an embarrassment to our educational system in America. Talk about scary.
