George W. Bush memoir due in November…
Former President George W. Bush has been keeping a very low profile since leaving office. Bush signed a 7 million dollar deal to write his memoirs and apparently that is what he has been doing. The book is due this fall. Here’s more from the New York Daily News:
“Former President George W. Bush will center his “memoir” on Sept. 11, his election win in 2000, as well as his battle with alcohol, according to Crown Publishers.
“Since leaving the Oval Office, President Bush has given virtually no interviews or public speeches about his presidency,” Crown said in a statement.”
The article also notes that:
“Although he has failed to acknowledge mistakes in the past, Crown insists the former President “writes honestly and directly about his flaws and mistakes, as well as his historic achievements.”
According to the congressional publication The Hill:
“Decision Points” will be simultaneously released in hardcover, e-book, and audio book, and it will carry a hefty price tag of $35.
In addition to the regular print run, Crown announced that 1,000 limited edition, numbered and autographed copies will be sold for $350 each.
Bush will embark on a book tour in conjunction with the book’s release.”
I interviewed Jenna Bush when she came through Dayton on book tour. I wonder if I can snag an interview with her dad? (a guy can dream…. :)

W didn’t will over Ann Richards because he was well spoken. He won because he bought a ranch and pretended to be a true cowboy son of a beloved Texas President. Texans love gun toting “Bring it on” cowboys (I can say that - I live there). Funny, he sold the ranch and moved directly to an uppity subdivision in Dallas when he left Washington. So, he wasn’t just the Decider, he was a Faker.

It might be very interesting. When W ran for Governor of Texas, he was a very articulate speaker. He had to be, running against Ann Richards. But when he hit the national stage, he moved from glib to very inarticulate. Why? Was it just a campaign strategy?

Should have been titled (in W vernacular), “The Decider”.

Wow, W isn’t too popular here, is he? I’m not the biggest W fan, didn’t like the Meiers nomination, Dubai ports, big spending, etc. But I find it hard to believe an “idiot” could be a jet pilot and earn an MBA from Harvard. Being a poor public speaker, doesn’t qualify one as an idiot. I seem to recall Mr Bush’s college GPA being a point or two higher the the “brilliant” John Kerry’s. That said, I’m not paying over $19.00 for anybody’s book.

I hope it is easier to get than Clinton’s was. I wanted his but the Hustler Super Store was sold out! However they did have a desk book with pictures of his conquests.

“I first understood the seriousocitiness of all that plane crashing stuff during our first meeting. Everyone had that tail tucked, hang dog look, and so I thought I’d lighten things up - Texas style. So, I says to them I says I just got a call from Tuscaloosa saying they just found bin Laden’s brother on the Alabama football team - going by the name Alabama’s bin losing (which they were at the time). Silence … I mean that’s a really funny joke. So then I kind of got it, something real bad had happened.”

Old W wrote his memoirs, ehh? Surprised his vocabulary allowed him to write enough to fill a book costing $35. He must have had some help from his buddy, Karl Rove on this one. Now that he has written the book, the next obstacle for him, is to find someone who is interested enough to read it. That might be too much to overcome, George. Most, I suspect, will wait until it hits the Odd Lots book bin or pick up a copy at a garage sale.

George Bush, worst President ever is back in the news, with a book. The faker returns. Will it show pictures of him holding hands with Saudi Prince of Oil. Iraq, his fault, is still funneling money to his cronies; rich feed the rich. His father, ex CIA chief, an indecisive and easily forgotten President loser. His Mother a piece of elitist work, his brother smart, but purchased. At least his wife had some credibility; librarians read. Sorry, it will take several generations to get our act together after 8 years of Bush’s mismanaged idiocy. At least he’s not the ex mayor of N.Y., now that’s the worst of a bad lot. My name is Dennis McCarthy, of Oakwood. (bloggers should fess up to who they are). What’s so wrong about peace, love and understanding.

$35 for a hardcover is not exactly a “hefty price tag”. Ted Kennedy’s recent memoir was also priced @ $35 - I don’t remember hearing anything about that being a high price. And everyone knows no store will actually sell it for that price.

I don’t usually read that type of fiction, but I would if they paid me $35.
