The perfect Mother’s Day gift…
The StoryCorps Project comes to Dayton next week. Since 2003 StoryCorps has been preserving the stories of ordinary Americans, people like you and me.
The StoryCorps Airstream trailer will be parked outside the Schuster Center in Downtown Dayton. It is a mobile recording studio. Find out how you can tell your story by visiting the website for WYSO Public Radio. click HERE:
Recently I interviewed David Isay, the founder of StoryCorps. We talked about how StoryCorps came about. Isay described what it was like to interview his own mother for the project. He got a huge surprise when he did. Speaking of moms, StoryCorps just published a fabulous book of interview excerpts. The book is called “Mom~A Celebration of Mothers from StoryCorps” (The Penguin Press). We talked about the book. We talked about America’s greatest oral historian, the late Studs Terkel.
This wonderful collection of stories about moms will touch your heart. There are stories told by mothers, daughters, sons, husbands, and just about anybody else you might imagine. This book would make a lovely Mother’s Day present.
Tune in this Sunday morning at 10:30 to catch my interview with David Isay on WYSO Public Radio (91.3fm) in Yellow Springs.
