You’re a Horrible Person, But I Like You…

Sometimes I need a humor break~this is one of those times. I’m reading “You’re a Horrible Person, But I like You~The Believer Book of Advice “ (Vintage). This compendium of advice from an assortment of comedians and humorists is mostly poor advice. Bad advice can make me laugh.

Here is an example:

Dear Daniel:

Do you have any tips on getting rid of a gopher infestation?

A.C~a part of Indiana you wouldn’t know

Dear A.C.:

Move.

Love, Daniel Handler

The advice is written in advice columnist form. Most of the advice is not suitable for quoting in a family newspaper. Some of it is actually quite funny.

Dear Abby, My favorite book blogger has blindsided me with his belief that buffoonery is but a brief break from banality. My bewilderment at this brazen blockage of belly laughs baffles me. Funny business is my bailiwick and my brain goes blank when such blasphemy is broadcast. Short of berating my beleaguered buddy, how could I bring about a breakthrough?… Bilbo Baggins Dear Bilbo, Bad news, bro’. The boy is bereft of a healthy balance of being, befriend a less bucolic bibliophile.
