“The Farmer’s Daughter”

cozy as that old nightshirt

Jim Harrison is one of those authors who is as comfortable as an old shoe. That old chair. An old bathrobe. That nightshirt you could never throw away.

I’m reading his latest, “The Farmer’s Daughter”(Grove Press). It is told from the perspective of a 15-year-old girl. Three stories as related from the viewpoint of this home-schooled farmer’s daughter in rural Montana.

Refreshing as a quick dip in a snowdrift. Harrison just gets better with age.

Sounds interesting. I’m self-taught myself, (never even went to high school)yet managed college. What can I say, sometimes the roundabout way is best. Thanks for the recommendation.

Maybe I should read it. I seldom attended a conventional school. Much of my ‘schooling’ was from the waves, the sand, and the sun.

Well, it sounded interesting to me until I got to the word “Montana.” I’m sure Montana is a great place or people wouldn’t want to live there and they do. And, maybe it will be a great read for many, many people. But, personally, I’m not interested in Montana.
