At long last, Sarah Palin’s concession speech…
While we count the days until Palinmania erupts with the approaching publication date for Sarah Palin’s memoir “Going Rogue” have you ever wondered what she would have said if John McCain had allowed her to give speech a year ago on election night?
Palin had written a victory speech and a concession speech just in case. She never gave either speech. John McCain silenced her after their defeat.

Vick, I may have been too hasty with my opinion. I saw an interview with the authors and they weren’t out to attack Mrs Palin. It would seem the other interviewers were trying to lead their interviews in that direction by focusing on what they felt were the least flattering aspects of the book. Both authors felt that Mrs Palin has always been underestimated and that she’s much sharper than most of the media give her credit for.

Definitions: Paleontology (British: palaeontology)[derivation 1] is the study of prehistoric life, including organisms’ evolution and interactions with each other and their environments (their paleoecology). As a “historical science” it tries to explain causes rather than conduct experiments to observe effects. Palintology (Inuit: paleface) is the study of prehistoronic lowlifes, including organs playing in the background, belief in creationism but destroying the environment (their palebycomparisonology). As a “hysterical science” it tries to explain conduct rather than effectivly causing harmony.

I guess not, Irish. I need more lead time than that. Yesterday I interviewed the author for the book I’m covering a week from this coming Sunday. That would have been the book section to possibly cover Mike Huckabee. Hopefully, somebody at the DDN already has it covered…

I would love to interview Mike Huckabee. Usually when authors are coming through the area their publishers will send me copies of their books to read in advance of their appearances. Often that happens. Not always. Ollie North’s publisher did that and I interviewed him- Chuck Heston’s publisher did that. I interviewed him, too. I even interviewed Ted Nugent when he was coming through. No sign yet of Mike Huckabee’s book though? Maybe they don’t care?

I’m posting between house cleaning myself. I just saw Mike Huckabee’s coming to the Green for a book signing. Does that mean you’ve got an interview lined up?

Irish, I’m always glad to hear to hear from you. I spend too much time at the computer, too. I try to balance that out by riding my bicycle every day and working in the yard, cutting up firewood, moving leaves around, gathering kindling, etc. My TV viewing is selective. I do not have cable. I can go weeks without watching any TV. I’ll be watching tonight though and hoping the Phillies can tie up the World Series.

Thanks for the advise Vick! I actually read it on a blog. I’m currently posting on 3 blogs. Some one at one of them just asked if I had anything better to do besides play on my computer all day, she suggested I take a nap ‘cause I’m getting grumpy. What do you think?

I know you are the Irish Cable Guy, even so, stop watching so much TV! It will rot yer brain. That’s nice these unknowns are getting so much face time. Still unknowns, even so…

True, most Irish don’t have a lot of affection for the English. Well the Green Irish anyway, the Orange and Limeys get along fine. Walshe and Conroy have been busy promoting their book, GMA this morning, The Early show yesterday, they’re getting big face time in the Media. So they’re working on the “virtual unknown” thing.

Irish, Tina Brown is English, actually. The Irish have never liked the English, right? And in regard to Palin’s book sales; let’s see, Walmart, Target, and Amazon are practically giving her book away on pre-orders, selling it for less than the wholesale price AND people have actually heard of Sarah Palin! So your point out her selling more books than these virtual unknowns is akin to shooting fish in a barrel? A no-brainer?

Vick, I’m guessing with all the favorable reviews and TV appearances that Walshe and Conroy get for their less than flattering book about Mrs Palin, they’ll still only sell about a quarter of books Mrs Palin will.

The former editor of Vanity Fair and The New Yorker runs it, Irish. Is that an indication of reliability? Your call on that…

Can’t say I’m familiar with the Daily Beast. Is it considered a reliable source?

The fact that anyone cares about her concession speech is exactly why McCain lost; McCain gave a moving and beautiful concession speech - his moved me much in the same way election night as a whole did - it’s too bad his party couldn’t see the value in the person they had nominated, just the value in the VP he chose for them. It’s sad to see this country become a one-(crappy)party/two-wingnut system.

It looks like McCain may have done her a favor by silencing her. If she’d actually delivered that concession speech with those gracious lines about Obama and Biden (the kind of stuff that got McCain booed on election night), there’s no way the GOP base would buy her book or support her career as a public speaker.
