The electronic book wars…
The market for e-books which can be read on mobile devices and computers is one of the few segments of the book publishing industry that is actually growing with almost 5% of the total market.
The shakeout in the e-book biz is yet to come as completing platforms duke it out. Consumers can choose from a variety of delivery systems such as the Sony Reader, the Amazon Kindle, cellphones, laptops, even downloads from Google.

Oops - sorry I missed this one Vick. Question - have you seen either the Kindle or Sony Reader? I know you prefer the “real deal” in books but if you have seen these, what was your thoughts? Reading a book on an iphone or Blackberry just doesn’t appeal to me; yet, I am curious about the other two. As I read the Sony, it appears it only downloads from the Sony eStore. Wouldn’t want to be them going up against Amazon and Kindle. You’d think Sony would learn its lesson from years back when they tried the beta format on video only to be creamed by VHS. I’m not sure propriatary rights are all they are cracked up to be. I’m giving these a year and I’ll be we see the prices in the $100 range.
