Vick, the Luddites were on to something, but I think we can blame it all on Promytheus.By vick

me?… I enjoy a good cave drawing or papyrus, anything pre-Guttenberg… books are a fad, they’ll never stand up to the burnings… kindling, you understand… books can help the cardiovascular system, however, read a political book you disagree with and you’ll find yourself heaving it across the room and you’ll have to get up and go get it, rinse and repeat…By Raoul

Vick, you have exposed me as the technology-challenged fool that I am. Apart from that, what would we all do with our bookshelves?By Blowfly

Or, throwing the book at the cat to get it to stop meowing (try that with your Kindle). Or, putting the book on the shelf so that in two years you can see it there and realize you have you have no memory at all of what the book was about. I too prefer the book for the same reasons mentioned and others. There is, however, a competitive device the iRex dr1000s that has been getting pretty good press as well.By vick

Raoul, this device operates completely independent of a computer. I’m with you though, I much prefer reading an actual book. Turning the pages. Marking my spot…By Raoul

Vick, one thing that isn’t mentioned is the need to upgrade your home PC. Mine is on it’s last legs. I hear October will be the time to buy because of the new line of stuff. I would rather read books the old fashioned way myself. Curled up with a cup of Joe, the dog scratching himself on my feet, TV off, and no noise in the background. Maybe a cocktail (or 2)at night. As always, you do a great job of steering things back to books. Is that why they call this post the “Book Nook”?
