a new Oprah’s Book Club pick
Oprah Winfrey has picked her new book. Has anybody read it?? It’s A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose by Eckhart Tolle.
I missed the program-the book sounds like a New Age, feel-good, Yellow Springs sort of book- a little yoga, snuggle with your crystals, drink your green tea, get into your chakras, feel your aura, etc.

I don’t watch Oprah but I’m familiar with this author. It’s not surprising Oprah would endorse this type of fluff. After all, she’s one of the few people who would want to believe in the message of “you create your own reality”. When your reality consists of being a multi-millionaire who wouldn’t want to take all of the credit?By lmj

I saw the end of the show from the Ken Follett interview to the announcement of the new book. My unknowledgeable concept is similar to your assessment. Personally, I was disappointed she hadn’t picked either a fiction book or a nonfiction book which isn’t a self-help book. Not that I don’t need plenty of help - it’s a genre I chose to avoid unless it’s recommended by a close friend. Oprah doesn’t meet that criteria.
