Greenspan could move markets by uttering the “R-word”. Stock markets around the world are falling this week as fears that the US economy is sliding into a RECESSION grip markets in Europe and Asia.

Is “IT” happening? For the moment, no. Forever, maybe yes — it’s kind of like living, while you are doing it, you are also dying and sometimes it takes a long time to die.

Recession is not Depression. It seems like every time things sink to what they were six months ago, there’s screaming about Recession. “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” comes to mind. The most I know about finance is I would know how to count the change to give to a person if I sold them something. If it’s about half-way serious, I would expect to find it on top of the BBC International Edition for three days in a row, and if it isn’t there, I’m not going to worry about it.
