it’s a very strange world we live in…

I came back from lunch today and checked my voice mail. I had two messages.

The first message was a pre-recorded rant imploring me to call Congressman Dave Hobson’s office to demand that we stop the impending invasion of Iran that George W. Bush and Dick Cheney would seem to be planning. It took a fiscal stance. They said that we have already poured some absurd amount of money into this Iraq fiasco, 800 billion? I don’t recall the exact figure. It was horrifying. Give or take, 100 billion here or there. Who really knows? The message asked how we could possibly afford an invasion of Iran? I certainly didn’t know. Still don’t.

The second message was from a publicist in New York. She wanted me to know that Jenna Bush would be calling me in one hour. That’s Jenna Bush. The daughter of George and Laura Bush. They have twin daughters. Jenna just wrote a book. It ‘s a pretty decent book. She is on a book tour that will take her through Dayton later this month.

And Jenna Bush did call me. She was quite nice. What can I say?

Welcome to my world.
