Native Butterflies

Ohio is the home to 144 species of butterflies. With the diverse natural environments found through out the state many wonderful species can be found. Don’t just limit your butterfly viewing to what you see in butterfly exhibits. Get out into the natural areas on a sunny warm day and see what you can find. Something you might want to take along would be a butterfly field guide to help you identify the butterflies. A pair of binoculars can also be useful.
