Tanagers and others return!

Scarlet Tanager

If you’ve been outside with your ears turned on, you’ve been hearing a lot of extra bird songs lately! Right now, Scarlet Tanager, Indigo Bunting, Baltimore Oriole, White-eyed Vireo, and many warbler species are making their way through! These birds are incredibly colorful, and have intriguing behaviors that are a blast to watch.

Get out to Germantown MetroPark this weekend, hike the green trail, and listen for a ‘robin with a sore throat’. With a good ear, you may be able to track down the Scarlet Tanager, a birder’s favorite! This bird flew here all the way from South America to raise it’s young here in Dayton. Don’t forget your binoculars!
