Mitchell’s Satyr Neonympha mitchellii
This is another of the seven endangered butterflies of Ohio. The Mitchell’s Satyr is no longer found in Ohio but in small areas of Michigan and Indiana. Toledo Zoo has established a successful recovery project for the Karner Blue and has now taken on the Mitchell’s Satyr. Habitat loss is the main reason for the decline in this butterfly population.
