Migrating Birds at Sugarcreek MetroPark

The next time you take a hike to the Three Sisters (550+ old oak trees) at Sugarcreek MetroPark, check out the woods next to the prairie. You’ll find splashes of color as migrating birds are struggling to get back to their wintering grounds. Just yesterday, on our Adult Nature Walk (which happens every second Thursday of the month at 9am), we found (and heard) a variety of birds. Pictured, you see the Blue-headed Vireo, Black-throated Green Warbler, and Golden-crowned Kinglet. Although found at Sugarcreek, these colorful birds can be found right now throughout the county, even at a MetroPark near your home! Get out your binoculars and check them out; they’ll be gone in a couple of weeks!
