Bengals’ Maualuga, Peko and Fanene lend hand

Cincinnati Bengals Rey Maualuga, Domata Peko and Jonathan Fanene traveled to native Samoa on Sunday, Feb 7 to deliver the $50,000 they raised for the tsunami relief efforts. Samoa and American Samoa were devastated by an earthquake and tsunami on September 29, 2009.

In addition to the funds raised, Maualuga personally provided 700 pairs of new Under Armour cleats and the players also collected close to 300 pairs of shoes from the locker room at the end of the season.

Maualuga took a camera along for the trip and will provide DDN with pictures and video footage of the devastation in Samoa upon their return.
