Statement from Bengals LB Rey Maualuga

I sincerely apologize for letting everyone down and making a terrible decision to drive under the influence. I wanted to acknowledge fault quickly and accept the consequences for my actions, which are the same that anyone else facing these charges would receive.

I’m thankful to have the legal implications resolved this morning so I can begin to move on and make positive changes in my life. I know it’s going to be hard to believe in me, but I will do everything in my power to gain your trust back and I promise to learn from this.

I’m truly sorry for the humiliation and embarrassment I’ve caused myself, my family, the Bengals organization and this great city of Cincinnati. I’d like to thank the entire Bengals organization, my teammates, family, friends and all the fans for the outpouring of support I’ve received since this incident took place.

I don’t understand how anyone can support you for doing what you did! Thank GOD that no one ran out in front of you, you were so out of control.

Support - Do you really believe that they support his action of driving drunk. Please think before you type. I would guess that the support he has received is that of help to: not do this again, to help battle any addiction, or to learn from his mistake and make better choices. We understand you are obviously know better but apparently you haven’t thought all your decisions through either

Gees, none of you are perfect so stop acting like it. I applaud Rey for taking responsibility and owning up to his mistake.

By owning up?

He owned up to his dui after he hit 2 parked cars and a parking meter. Do you seriously think he would have owned up to a DUI if he didn’t have an accident. And don’t tell me everybody drives drunk or your an idiot.
