Ex-Bengal WR Chris Henry free to get his game on
Former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry was suspended by the NFL on Thursday for four games but may play the final 12 games of the regular season for any team looking for a big-play receiver.
I talked to Henry shortly after he learned his fate from Commissioner Rodger Goodell about his playing status for the upcoming season. The receiver was pumped about the opportunity of playing football this season.

“I’m happy to finally get everything over with and now I can move on with my life,” Henry said. “I’ve been working out honing my skills and ready to get back out there on the field. I don’t even care about being suspended for four games I’m just ready to ball.”
It’s a good thing that Henry is ready to ball out because there are a few teams already showing interest in the talented receiver. I’m told that there has been some contact with teams since the decision on Thursday. However, Henry is not expected go into just any situation. It has to be the right fit.
Representatives for Henry are looking to place their client in the right situation one where there is a support system in place and strong leadership in the locker room. This may be Henry’s last shot to prove to those who believe in him both as a person and player that he’s ready to put his troubled past behind him and concentrate on playing football. Henry has been like a cat with nine lives and the brother is down to eight. I just hope he realizes that because this may be it for him if he doesn’t stay on the straight and narrow.
There is no question that any team willing to take a chance on him will get an outstanding young receiver, but does the risk out weigh the reward. That’s something only Henry can answer.
“Any team wanting a big-time receiver who is going to make plays game in and game out I’m their man. That’s where I’m at right now C,” Henry said.
Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis reportedly said the team is not interested in re-signing Henry, but according to a source with knowledge of the situation there are still talks of a possible return to the Nati. If not as a Bengal, a division rival. ;)

Bengals are smart not to sign Henry. Let someone else deal with the upcoming problems (and there will be upcoming problems) with this kid. It’s just a matter of time before he’s in trouble again. Can’t believe that other teams are interested, given his past and he’s being selective for the “right fit”. Baloney, he’ll jump on the first offer as, even he knows, he’s running out of chances to make good. Who’s kidding who here? He’s a beggar looking for a job handout.

Typical Bengals fan!Always about the negative and nothing positive. I guess that’s why you’re a Bengals fan. There is nothing positive to look forward to with the team. I would welcome Henry to Cleveland with open arms. He’s a legitimate “big play” No. 2 receiver that would take our offense just totally over the top. I can understand why representatives for Henry are looking to put him in the right situation. We all know that the Bengals locker room is in total disarray. Chad Johnson as your leader pretty much says it all. He couldn’t lead a blind man to water. Rock on Browns!

Actually Browns Fan, I despise the Bengals. Have since 1968. Cheesy little flea market team in my opinion. Use to like the Browns in Jim Brown’s day in the 60’s. Since then, they’ve been no better than the Bengals. Been a Bears fan since the 60’s. Goes to show you shouldn’t open mouth and insert foot without knowning all the facts. You’ll be a Henry fan until he screws up again and then you’ll be first in line to complain and cry about him.Carry on tough guy.

Is Maurice Purify still on the roster? Is the club trying to hide him. After all he did sign a 2 year deal. He’s a big, fast. and tough reciever. He is also connected to USC’s Rey Maualuga. They played on an undefeated Eureka High team together.
