These are all great restaurants, but for BBQ….it HAS to be Company 7. the food melts in your mouth and the people are so nice. Free music Friday and Saturday seal the deal for us. We had friends up from TX and they, at first, would not even consider Barbecue up north, now Company 7 is their first stop for a meal, when they visit. They say it is as good, if not better, as anything they have ever tasted.

Hickory River, for sure! Their food is delicious, and tastes just like it’s from texas. Atmosphere is cozy and warm, and the employees are always friendly. Wouldn’t go anywhere else if I had the choice.

Oinkadoodlemoo and Company 7 are both closer to me, yet I continue to travel to Tipp for some Hickory River because they are THAT MUCH BETTER than oink or co. 7. Not saying those ones are bad, but Hickory is better.

Hickory River does a damn fine job holding true to REAL TEXAS BBQ!!! Theirs Brisket is smoked to perfection, Pulled Pork melts in your mouth, Turkey is simply the best I have ever had; And that’s not even mentioning their ribs!!! If you want to see what real GREAT Barbecue should taste like Hickory River is the most consistently delicious barbecue in the area. My compliments to the proprietors!

I am a BBQ purist. We go to Company 7 every chance we get, and they truly deserve their “Best of the Best” award as one of the best barbecue restaurants in the USA. The ribs, the brisket, the pulled pork, the sausage, the smoked turkey, the sides…all first class. It is great we have many BBQ choices, more power to them, but Company 7 clearly deserves to win. And GREAT people.

Been to most of these restaurants, all good mostly, but Company 7 is SUPERB bbq. Definitely deserves best bbq vote. Great decor, nice specials, incredible REAL bbq, free music, etc. Co 7 is our very favorite restaurant because they serve delicious food and show real care for customers.

Smoked turkey is amazing, isn’t it. We had smoked turkey and spiral cut ham for Thanksgiving but ours was from Company 7….oh wow. And for normal nights Company 7 is our favorite restaurant because the decor, ambiance and especially food is so wonderful. I am a commercial pilot who loves BBQ. I seek out the best BBQ places wherever I go and I have yet to taste as good as Company 7. Upscale, friendly and the best BBQ I have ever tasted. Many of these others are fine places I have also visited, but Company 7 is on a different level completely. The National BBQ News award as a best BBQ restaurant in the US is only extended to about 30 restaurants in the entire USA, and Company 7 is one of them.

By Caroline

December 20, 2011 10:48 PM | Link to this

I have to agree with the pilot, Company 7 is absolutely amazing. The food, ambiance and specials there are exceptional. This is barbecue that is amazingly high quality and amazingly delicious.

We went to Company 7 after the National Barbecue News named them as one of the best barbecue restaurants in the US (there are only 30 or so such recognized restaurants). My goodness the News was right, Company 7 takes BBQ to amazing heights. We love the decor too, the people are wonderful. It is a great restaurant to enjoy, really one of our, if not our, favorite restaurant ever.

Oink a doodle is winning. I don’t know how or why. I tried them, they had allot of sauces. BBq is not Ice cream, you don’t need that many. They also have a scale to measure the meat for sandwiches. In closing, i taste NO smoke in their BBq.

By Mallory

Oinky is good, but Company 7 is winning (and has our vote), they are AMAZING. No problem with Oinky, we like them, but Company 7 has so many options and such incredible taste. We live in Englewood and are delighted we have both Company 7 and OMD.

We went to Company7 once. Did NOT like all the sauces in all those bottles!! How many germs do you suppose were on each one of those bottles that you then picked up and put on your food? Can you say ICK?! I’m not taking a chance that the person who used the bottle before me hadn’t washed their hands after using the rest room!!

I love Company 7 BBQ… Ribs are my favorite.. As for the sauce comment above, do you use ketchup at restaurants? it’s the same thing. I don’t think there’s any other restaurant around here that compares. If you haven’t tried it yet, don’t knock it! :)

We are lucky to have good BBQ this far north, Company 7 is world class BBQ. Trust me, I study barbecue and grew up on it. Some of the others are fine, Company 7 is clearly quite a few notches better. Nice atmosphere and nice people too.

if you have to put funny sauces on your meat….then the barbeque is not good…it should be able to stand alone…if you go to a true barbeque establishment…you will find no sauce…and it is obvious no one in the state of ohio has ever had real bbq

Company 7 BBQ is the best hands down. The ribs and brisket are awesome. They are so good you don’t need sauces but if still want it they have a great variety from sweet to burning….The atmosphere really makes it a great place to be for the whole family my kids love it. If you want great BBQ with a family touch Company 7 is the place to be. We love it…..

My vote goes to Oinkadoodlemoo because their Pulled Pork is amazingly tender and flavorful and I love theit Sizzlin’ Sauce. The service is also great. Haven’t tried Company 7 & Hickory River but want to. City Barbecue is decent but def. Prefer Oink. Recommend it to anyone yet to try it.

That Hickory River is indeed “Real Texas Barbeque” is confirmed when friends from south Texas not only tell me that it is, but they also serve it at parties that they host. Hickory River is the best! Try it if you haven’t!
