Bengals coming to Dayton for public practice
Want to see the T.O. and Chad Show in person, but you missed training camp?
Here’s your chance.
The Bengals will come to Dayton’s Welcome Stadium on Sunday, August 22 for a practice beginning at 3:30 p.m., according to a press release from the team. Gates at the stadium will open at 2 p.m.
The practice is free, but an admission pass is needed for entrance into the stadium. Passes will NOT be available at Welcome Stadium, but can be picked up (limit to 6 per customer) at the Fifth Third Field Box Office.
Given capacity of the stadium, only 11,000 passes will be distributed, on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Fifth Third Field Box Office will be open from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday, until passes run out. No phone orders will be accepted. A $10 parking fee per car will be required at Welcome Stadium on practice day, benefitting the Dayton Public Schools and Dayton Dragons MVP program.
Stadium concession stands will be open during practice. Fans should know that no outside food or beverage can be brought into Welcome Stadium, and no alcohol will be served. Exclusive Bengals Pro Shop merchandise will be available for purchase at the practice. Tickets to the eight regular season home games will also be available for purchase during the practice.
Fans wishing to take photos are permitted to bring cameras to the practice, but video cameras are prohibited. The team will practice rain or shine, limited only by lightning. Bengals players will be available for a time-limited general autograph opportunity for kids 12 and under after practice.
“We know we have great fans in the Miami Valley, and we count on them for their support,” said Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis. “There’s a lot of excitement and high expectations for the coming season, and we are working hard to deliver. We’re looking forward to practicing in front of a big crowd in Dayton.”
Dragons president Robert Murphy said, “We have been delighted with our partnership with the Cincinnati Bengals and even more excited about the August 22 practice here in Dayton. This is a great opportunity for our fans, the Bengals, and for our Dragons MVP program, which is in over 850 classrooms in a three County area.”

It’s not free. Ten dollars to park your car. And the expense and the time of picking up free tickets at Fifth-Third field. Hope it’s profitable and helps Dayton Public schools. Put the free tickets printable on the internet. The Dragons have lost 23 straight home games, is this correct?

I am incredibly excited about this and think this is a great idea. Everybody wins, as the Bengals get to have a practice in front of a different group of fans than the ones that can make it to training camp and some money can be raised for a good cause.

Hey NYC, you are the most moronic person on here. For over a year I read your idiotic posts and although freedom of speech is welcome.. your stupidity is not. Sorry if you do not like my freedom of speech but I am sure that several people agree with me.

Dayton Public Schools getting the $10 parking fee? Why, so they can misappropriate those dollars too?

May be Robert Murphy the Dayton Dragons president should get a team that can win a game instead of wasting time bringing the Bungles into town.

Free practice? It shouldn’t cost $10 to park, especially in these economic times. $110,000 would cover parking for the entire capacity of Welcome Stadium. This is pocket change for big-time pro athletes. If the Bengals really cared about Dayton fans, the team would cover the donation. Not that I’m a Bengals fan anyway. Go Browns!

This is a nice gesture by the Bengals. I’m sure Dayton Public schools will get the parking revenue. Hey, if someone doesn’t like it, then don’t go. John, you should go. It would give you a chance to see some NFL football this year since you’ve been viewing Browns games in the present and past. Are the Browns in the NFL???

The ticket give-away @ 5/3 was a fiasco! Tickets were gone by 10. Not all 6,000 tickets were even given out - was asked to sign waiting list - will be called IF the whiny season tic holders don’t claim their tickets. WTH??? WHY did they give each person (6) tickets each to begin with??? STUPID!!! Thanks for NOTHING!!!!

It amazes me the amount of people that complain about paying $10 to park… If you are really THAT concerned about $10, you have no business going. I think it’s a great opportunity for true BENGALS fans to see them! I was lucky enough to go to Training Camp, they are a great group, they were happy to sign autographs for the kids and very nice when doing so.

The ticket givaway went very smoothly, No problems and the line moved very quickly. If you didn’t get yours don’t whine about it, you should have gotten there earlier! Thanks Bengals!

I totally agree with Dawn. I got there around 9:40 and received just the right amount of tickets and I needed. I didn’t even take the 6 ticket limit, just what was necessary. If you knew this event was going on, and knew the excitement of the fan-base, it’s your own fault for not getting there early enough… sucks to be you. I have my tickets and am looking forward to Sunday.

This is such a joke. What an embarrasment to the Bengal organization. They can’t sell tickets, so they do a road show and offer the tickets to those who haven’t purchased them. All behind the flag of saying “We want to give back to the people in the Dayton area who have supported us.” What a line of B.S, that is. last time I checked I thing Welcom only holds about 8,000 - 9,000. 11,000 parking passed, figuring an average of 4 people in a vehicle (44,000people). Where are people going to watch from?

I personally think that you are all complaining about the parking cost. Try appreciating the fact that the Bengals are coming to Dayton to practice. This is probably the most excitment that Dayton has has since all the top business’s have left Dayton. We are practically a ghost town now. So instead of complaining, either enjoy the day or stay home and don’t ruin it for everyone who cares. Also I was in line to get tickets and was told the cutoff was not far in front of me, so I got tickets for my kids to go from friends and also had to buy 2 on ebay. Imagine that some people actually got those tickets to profit from them. Go Bengals
