Victoria announces summer film lineup

The Victoria Theatre Association will screen 11 classic movies during its 2011 Michelob Ultra Cool Film Series in Dayton.

July 1-3: “West Side Story” (1961), 152 minutes.

July 8-10: “The Bridge on the River Kwai” (1957), 161 minutes.

July 15-17: “Some LIke It Hot” (1959), 120 minutes.

July 22-24: “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” (1975), 133 minutes.

July 29-31: Mel Brooks Weekend, including “Young Frankenstein” (1974), “Blazing Saddles” (1974) and “The Producers” (1968), one each day.

Aug. 5-7: “The Wizard of Oz” (1939), 101 minutes.

Aug. 12-14: “The African Queen” (1951), 101 minutes.

Aug. 19-21: “Rear Window” (1954), 101 minutes.

Aug. 26-28: “Grease” (1978), 110 minutes.

Selections were inspired by the VTA’s 2011-12 Miami Valley & Good Samaritan Hospitals Broadway Series, based on audience surveys conducted during last summer’s film series.

Tickets are $5, or $26 for a 10-ticket passbook (for renewing passbook subscribers) and $28 for new subscribers at the Schuster Center box office, Second and Main streets, by phone (888) 228-3630 or online at www.ticketcenterstage.com.

Single tickets will be sold at the door.

Times are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 3 p.m. Sundays at the Victoria Theatre, First and Main streets. Free popcorn and soda will be served in the lobby an hour before each show. A concert on the theater’s Mighty Wurlitzer organ will begin 30 minutes before the movie.
