Lunch offers inside scoop on ‘Porgy’
The 2010-11 season’s largest-scale local production will be the Dayton Opera’s “Porgy and Bess” Oct. 23, 29 and 31.
It will combine the efforts of the opera, a cast of professional singers, the Dayton Philharmonic, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Dayton Opera chorus and choral members from Wilberforce and Central State universities.
You can get the inside story on how it’s being mounted during the next monthly Mid-Day Arts Cafe at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at the Mathile Theatre on the Second and Ludlow streets corner of the Schuster Center.
Dayton Opera director Tom Bankston and production director Gary Briggle will answer questions, there will be performances by members of the chorus and there will be a box lunch from Citilites. Price is $12. Call (937) 228-3630 or go to www.victoriatheatre.com/mid-dayarts-cafe.
