Want a ‘Wicked’ ticket? Would you pay $550 for it?

How well is “Wicked” doing at the box office in Dayton?

Would you pay between $364 and $550 for a ticket?

That was the price range quoted Feb. 22 by online secondary ticket-seller www.ticketliquidator.com to see the hit musical at the Schuster Performing Arts Center, where it runs through March 7.

That compared with $151 to $233 to see it in New York, where it has been running for seven years; between $39 and $601 in San Francisco, where the show is having an extended run, and between $77 and $306 in Miami, where it opens in early March.

Official prices at the Schuster are $46-$125. Ticket Center Stage is the only authorized ticket seller of “Wicked” tickets, said Victoria Theatre Association spokesperson Diane Schoeffler-Warren.

The national ticket industry website www.ticketnews.com ranked “Wicked” as the number one event in its top 20.

People who want to see it in Dayton, where tickets are so hot they glow (judging by online sellers’ prices) might do better to buy a seat for the upcoming run in Toledo.

“Wicked” will play the Stranahan Theatre there March 31-April 18. Ticketliquidator.com had a good range of seats there for $93-$214. Based on experience here, those prices will go up during the run.

The Victoria Theatre Association, which is presenting “Wicked” in its Broadway series at the Schuster Performing Arts Center, has reported no sellouts. It says only that ticket sales here are going “very well.”

Bargains remain available. A pre-show lottery begins 150 minutes before each performance. Twenty seats go to the lucky winners for just $25 each. Call (937) 228-3630 or go to www.ticketcenterstage.com for more information.

I would love to take my family to see this incredible show, but not at those rates! We might have been able to afford the $60 tickets, but even the $90+ box office seats are too steep.

We paid $66 each, but it was worth every penny. It was a fantastic show, and I normally don’t even like musicials. The great thing about Schuster is that there is not a bad seat in the house.

I’m sorry but at those prices online, you would have to pay me before I pay those ticket prices. It might be a wonderful show to go to but tickets these days no matter what the event is, has gotten too ridiculous. And the events that were affordable, lot of them have been phased out due to budget or economy cuts. Nowadays, going out drains a family budget and if Ohio gets there way, be prepared to pay for going to all the parks. The statement getting something for free or staying within a budget is getting harder to find these days until things start getting better in the economy.

CLASSIC TICKETS- 426-0844 has tickets priced much cheaper than those ridiculous prices quote. Shame on this ddn reporter for not ‘plugging’ local businesses which support the Dayton Daily News (for past 20 yrs>) —instead chooses to list broker who is charging ridiculous prices.

It’s great to see such demand for a product that includes people coming Downtown from all over, that’s certainly the real story here. However, for all the complainers about “high prices”, the tickets referred to here are for sale from a reseller that bought lots of them. There are still tickets available in MANY levels (46, 90, 105 dollars), both singles AND adjoining seats directly from the Schuster. ticketcenterstage.com shows you everything thats available.

Just because someone is “offering” a ticket at $550, doesn’t mean people are buying them!!! I have snickers candy bars for sale that are $1,000 a piece, haven’t sold one yet, but there still $1,000 each. This is pretty much a non story.

Huh. Interesting. And to think I know this wonderful story (about Wicked) by reading the book for free thanks to your local public library.

Wow…good comment though, it’s not the list price that matters…it’s the actual sold price that really has impact…just ask a real estate agent. That said, my Bride and I attended Wicked last week. Completely new to me as I did not know the story…cute…but loud!

Dear NYC, If we are such hillbillies why do you live here? I have the belief that you are in the boondocks right with us and won’t admit it. You shouldn’t bite the hand that feeds you.

Who cares what YOU (only a true hillbilly would abbreviate that “U”) saw five years ago, pal. You know what I’D like for you to see? Your life flash before your eyes…

Trade Bengals tickets for it. Neither worth the face value.

I sure wouldn’t pay that kind of money to see that or any play or musical, etc. My son went to see it last night and he said he enjoyed it. I did not ask him what he paid. He didn’t buy a ticket for me and I wish he would have. I wanted to see this. Guess I’ll have to wait and see they make a DVD. Oh well. Would also LOVE to see Phantom.

LET ME TELL YOU WHAT IS WORTH GRIPING OVER…THE WICKED MERCHANDISE PRICES!!! GEEZ! We went last night. A t-shirt…$35…and it is as thin as can be. A little keychain was $10. That is what irks me….is it not enough that you already spend $100 a ticket.

Skeptic- “Not a bad seat in the house” I hear that comment everytime when people are talking about Schuster. Have you ever sat in the very top balcony and in the last row? I have, and it sucks! I saw Phantom there years ago and was lied to by Schuster’s ticket booth about where the seats were. We couldn’t see anything going on towards the back of the stage. If that’s how Schuster treats their customers I’ll never go back there again!
