Around 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, President Barack Obama and his guest British Prime Minister David Cameron ate a hot dog while watching the NCAA tournament’s Western Kentucky vs. Mississippi Valley State basketball game. According to reporters inside the UD Arena, two young women delivered three hot dogs - one each for Marvin Nicholson, Obama and Cameron.

Obama bought his whole section hot dogs.

The Prime Minister put ketchup on his and both men ate the dogs pretty quickly. Cameron washed his down with a Coca Cola and the president drank water. Between plays, the President chatted with the students sitting near him.

Seated with the president in the arena section behind one basket were Cameron, Downing Street chief of staff Ed Llewellyn, White House chief of staff Jack Lew, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich. Also seated in the section were University of Dayton students and university staff.

University of Dayton President Daniel J. Curran was among the staff members sitting with President Obama and British PM David Cameron. He was seated in the row behind the leaders and to their left.

On the trip to Dayton, Cameron and Obama spent the entire flight in the president’s office on Air Force One, talking, according to a reporter who is part of the media accompanying them.

With President Barack Obama attending one of the NCAA basketball tourney games at UD Arena, media and fans are swarming the event center’s parking lot. The gates opened shortly before 4:30 p.m.

WHIO-TV reporters on site at the arena say traffic has started to slow down there but appears to still be flowing smoothly nearby on Interstate 75.

Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron are expected to arrive via Air Force One at Wright Patterson Air Force Base around 6 p.m. A reporter from the Wall Street Journal who was at The White House this afternoon said the pair boarded Marine One to get to Air Force One at 4:18 p.m. It will take about one hour for them to get to Dayton from Washington D.C.

Obama, Cameron and their entourage will travel by motorcade to the arena in Dayton. They are expected only to attend one game and depart by 9 p.m. from the base.

From Dayton Daily News Staff Writer Lynn Hulsey:

Ohio Gov. John Kasich will be among those greeting President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron today when they arrive on Air Force One to attend the First Four basketball game.

“We think it’s always important anytime the president is in your state that you greet him,” said Kasich spokesman Rob Nichols. “It’s the president of the United States.”

Nichols said he is not sure what Kasich plans to say to the president or if he will discuss the state’s request for disaster aid. He said the governor will attend the Mississippi Valley State vs. Western Kentucky basketball game with Obama and Cameron.

Dayton Mayor Gary Leitzell also will greet the president but said he has a previous engagement and cannot attend the game.
