Kil-Kare to host Legend Series

XENIA — The traveling FAST Legend Series Cars return to Kil-Kare Speedway Friday night for their first appearance of the season along with the regular program of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series late models, modifieds, sport stocks, and compacts.

Travis Braden who captured two of the three legend car features last year has made his name know in the late model ranks this year behind the wheel of Miamisburg’s Gary Estes owned car. Braden made his debut on May 13 and quickly recorded fast time of the night and he trailed rookie late model driver Brandon Oakley to the checker flag to claim runner-up honors. The following week he again set fast time and again was runner-up to last years track champ Don Mahaffey Jr.

Last week he again was fast qualifier but come feature time he was first to the checker flag as he claimed the Memorial Day Championship.

The modified division has only had one driver visit victory lane twice this year and that was last years champion Greg Stapleton who made it win number two last Friday. One time winners thus far have been Derek Weatherhead, Ryan Fleming, and Jason Mahaffey.

Mike South Jr. and Shawn Stansell own two feature wins in the sport stocks with Rodney Kreusch owning one when he made a daring pass coming to the checker to win last week.

Joe Hoelscher captured the compact track championship last year and this year his son Bo is on a mission, repeat what dad did. Bo is a three time winner so far with one win each going to Matt Stone and James McElfresh.

Action starts Friday night when the gates open at 6 p.m. followed by time trials and and racing on the 3/8 mile asphalt track.

Adult admission is just $15 while 12-15 is $5 and eleven and under are free.

Visit www.kilkare.com or contact the track at 937 429-2961 for info.
